Peter
Karoly Born: March 1, 1953 in Allentown, PA Died:
February 2, 2007 IN MEMORIUM
On 2 February 2007, a
fatal airplane accident in New Bedford, Massachusetts
took the lives of Peter J. Karoly and his wife Dr.
Lauren B. Angstadt along with their pilot Michael
Milot. Peter and Lauren were founders and principal
owners of Image Medical Corporation, parent of eRAD
Inc.
Peter J. Karoly was
born in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he owned and
operated a highly successful personal injury and
medical malpractice law firm at the time of his death.
Lauren B. Angstadt grew up in Kutztown, Pennsylvania
where she was an active sportsperson and musician. Dr.
Angstadt specialized in general and cosmetic dentistry
at her own practice in Allentown from 1987 until her
death.
Peter and Lauren were
entrepreneurs having founded or owned a number of
diverse businesses. One of their interests provided
minor league professional baseball in the area for
nine years via the Allentown Ambassadors of the
Northern League. Other interests included the Haviland
Grill in Allentown and a number of non-claustrophobic
MRI Centers in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
Peter and Lauren's
knowledge of medicine and diagnostic imaging led to
the founding of eRAD Inc. in 1999. Their notion of
internet based delivery of studies would fulfill their
goal of improved patient care and grater operating
efficiency. Peter, as Chairman of the Board and CEO,
was a visionary and driving force for operating the
business. He was the prime mover for merging eRAD with
Image Medical Corp. to form the entity as it is today.
He successfully guided the growth of the business with
emphasis on providing innovative technology for the
200 eRAD clients. In recent years, Peter focused on
building infrastructure. He set customer satisfaction
as a priority and was constantly building his employee
base and management team. Peter and Lauren's legacy
is the foresight that allows eRAD to continue the
delivery of outstanding quality and value to the PACS
community.
